I don't have experience. But I oso thinking to invest. My friend said can just buy from Pohkong. 1 gold plate 10gram about 200 ringgit. Keep and sell back when price is good. But he said to sell back you lose 18%! So must make sure profit is actually more than 18% or you loose money. Don think it is short term la. So donno. Still thinking..

You can sign up for an investing account with a bank like RHB or HSBC. You can buy and sell gold. Not sure about the transaction fee, but you do not need to store the physical gold somewhere. Here the gold account description from HSBC.  https://www.hsbc.com.my/1/2/personal-banking/deposits/hsbc-gold-account

I don't think gold is what you should go into if you're looking for fast return.. I believe it would take at least 2-3years before you can start seeing some profits in gold investment.

Gold use to be a ever appreciating asset but past few years gold price plunged sharply. Nevertheless, it recovered a bit, those who invested one year ago made lots of money. Gold is a high risk investment, you may invest in it but not with all your monies. Instead of investing in physical gold or paper gold, you may invest in a well managed metal portfolio that consist of gold, silver and other metal to manage your risk.

About making money fast, I guess only money game promise that. Please do not be the next victim.

Another investment to diversify unit trust. It is advisable to diversify your investment with different fund houses, different geographical area and different industry to manage your risk.

I am an independent financial adviser that isn't tied to a single insurance or investment companies. Perhaps I can advise you better without any bias. Kindly feel free to contact me at 018 2610 688

Dear Szeoo,

If you would like to invest in gold, you have to manage it actively.  It can be quick and cannot be quick depends on your luck. However, NOW is always the best time to invest. You can consider AmPrecious metal.

Thank you!

Thank you Daniel. These are good advice. I just have so little to invest it's embarrassing haha but I know it's better to start somewhere. I'll be honest, why Im reluctant to go through financial advisers is that I will be paying their commissions right? 🙁 Sorry I don;t mean to offend anyone, just money is tight 🙁

From my point of view, if  life insurance is your income protector then gold is your wealth protector. Dont invest in gold scheme the promise you return by monthly as mostly is scam. You can verify that from Bank Negara blacklist list.Buy gold and get physical gold when you can keep it. Change your money to gold or real estate is great because if not inflation will reduce the money buying power. I and my husband buy gold from Public gold since their spread is low only 6%.We buy on monthly basis 1g per month or more if got extra . Hope my little sharing help you on your gold purchase.

Hey Nadia. Thanks for responding. Just a few questions hope it's ok.

What do you mean by 6% spread? And how much in RM is 1g? And so what happens when the price is high? Do you sell?

Thanks for your time.

Sure no problem...spread mean the margin between the buying and selling price.

1g gold the price is fluctuate. Everyday is not the same. That why you must start today. Last 15 years price not same like today's price.

Our objective is not to make fast profit from gold. We collect gold because its value keep increasing and a great tool to fight inflation.

10% of your monthly salary must change to insurance, similar formula to your wealth. 10% of your wealth must change to gold as a backup.

Example formula as below :

Formula for spread:

(Sell Price – Buyback Price)/Buyback Price X 100 = Spread %

Example of calculation:

1 oz of Kijang Emas selling at RM5,060, buying back at RM4,864.

Apply the formula and therefore it’s: (5060 – 4864)/ 4864 x 100 = 4.03%

With that, the spread for 1 oz of Kijang Emas is 4.03%.
